Report on technical Talk on Neuro Marketing

A technical talk on Neuro Marketing was given by Dr. Manikandan Scientist, DRDO. It was conducted on 12/07/2014.  Neuro Marketing is a new field of marketing research that studies consumers sensorimotor, cognitive, and affective response to marketing stimuli. Researchers use technologies such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to measure changes in activity in parts of the brain.

Electroencephalography (EEG) and Steady state topography (SST) to measure activity in specific regional spectra of the brain response, and/or sensors to measure changes in ones physiological state, also known as biometrics, including heart rate and respiratory rate, galvanic skin response, to learn why consumers make the decisions they do, and what part of the brain is telling them to do it. Neuro marketing research raised interest for both academic and business side.

A three day workshop on Cadence OrCAD PCB Suite 16.6 was conducted from 15/07/2014 to 17/07/2014. 50 Students form BTech and MTech were part of it. Workshop started with explaining the importance of PCB designing in today’s world and by learning and experimenting with PCB designs, and how students can become more marketable to companies.

It was a vibrant, stimulating, and inspiring workshop and the essence of this workshop is highly valued.

“Novatos” fresher’s day was organized in CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Faculty of Engineering on 22nd August 2014, in the open auditorium from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. This program was organized by the seniors for the first year students of B.Tech.

The chief guest for the program was Rev. Fr. Benny Thomas (Director of Faculty of Engineering), and Rev. Fr. Antony Puthussery (Campus Coordinator).  Novatos (fresher’s day) is basically a talent search for the first year students, where every class was given ten minutes time to show case their talent as a group or individual.

All the 10 classes both from B.Tech and M.Tech participated in the program.  As the first year students showcased their talent, the senior students also put up some of their show also.

Report on Project Exhibition

“To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.”

On September 13th, CUFE students & faculty came together to celebrate Engineers Day to not only commemorate the memory of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who had contributed to the field of hydel energy in India, but also to honor and appreciate all the engineers. And what better way to celebrate than to demonstrate the very innovations of CUFE future engineers? Some of the top-notch projects designed and developed by the students from all departments were showcased, not only up for exhibition but also for a rigorous competition.

On this occasion, Mr.Ram Balwant Bhandari(Chairman of AKP Foundries Pvt. Ltd.) was invited as the chief guest for the program. We were also privileged to have Fr. Anthony Puthussery, Campus Coordinator and Dr. Iven Jose, Associate Dean, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Faculty of Engineering, for the inauguration of this function. Starting out with inaugural addresses, from Dr. Iven Jose and the chief guest, the function quickly moved on to the project exhibitions.

With twelve of our very own faculties judging the different projects, it was indeed a sight to view the different creative ideas that the students had come up with for their projects. There was also anxiousness all around as to who could possibly win, which we knew for sure would be a difficult decision. A surprising visit from Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Matthew, Vice Chancellor was all that was needed to uplift the participant’s spirits as each of them tried their best to impress and convey their ideas.

After two hours of an exchange of ideas, suggestions, thoughts and critiques, participants and observers left with a renewed desire and motivation to create and invent. A perfect experience for future engineers. Happy Engineers Day!
